Arike Ogunbowale

Arike Ogunbowale is an American basketball professional with the Dallas Wings in the Women's National Basketball Association. She was part of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in college, before being drafted as the 5th overall pick by the Wings in the 2019 WNBA draft. Arike Ogunbowale's father and mother Yolanda Ogunbowale and Gregory Ogunbowale were born March 2nd 1997 in Milwaukee Wisconsin. Mario Ogunbowale (26 years old) and Dare Ogunbowale (19 years) are her two older brothers. Being the youngest of her siblings she was the most spoilt of her parents. Gregory's father was part of the Nigerian Army. Ogunbowale is from a vivacious family. Her mother Yolanda was a softball player for DePaul as did her brother Dare. Dare is a football player. The aunt she played with was a volleyball player for UAPB as well as Endia is a volleyball player in Tennessee State. Ogunbowale is named to the honor roll of her school for the past three years. In addition, she was recognized for her accomplishments in high school, including various awards. Arike graduated from Divine Savior Holy Angels High School located in her hometown. Her academics were followed by three years of playing the varsity. Ogunbowale's exceptional abilities led to her school winning stunning victories repeatedly. Her high school career included 73 games with 1,477 career points and 739 career rebound. Ogunbowale participated during 2013 the 2013 FIBA Americas U16 Championship 2014 FIBA U17 World Championship and 2013 FIBA 3x3 U18 Championship and was awarded Gold medals at both. In July 2014 she was picked to join the USA Youth Olympic Women's Basketball Team. Ogunbowale was entering her first year of collegiate play, was named her ACC All-Freshman Team. The coach even thanked the legendary Kobe Bryant after she hit various big shots in the NCCA Tournament.
